Kithmini

Kithmini is a young and hands-on naturalist who is bursting with enthusiasm for the work he does. Starting his volunteer work in his teenage years and having studied subjects pertaining to biodiversity, conservation and environmental degradation throughout his university career, he has stepped into the professional arena with a glowing portfolio of qualifications and field work. He is a dedicated animal handler, having worked closely with animals from a very young age, while he has also participated in and contributed to several research projects pertaining to matters of biodiversity.

Nimal

The guide who will assist you during this excursion has 14 years of experience as a birding guide. He also speaks Sinhala, English, and Tamil fluently. He currently lives in Polonnaruwa with his family.

Puwathara

Puwathara’s passion for wildlife at a very early stage, made him a member of the Young Zoologists’ Association (YZA) where he initially gained his theoretical and practical knowledge on wildlife.

Due to his many involvements in environmental protection as a volunteer and a facilitator his exposure and experience to the diversified National Parks and natural terrains of wilderness in Sri Lanka is enormous.

Puwathara has advanced his knowledge and passion for the field by participating in Conservation Breeding forums in South Asia. He now serves as a naturalist for Mahoora Tented Safari Camps & Eco Team Pvt Ltd where he continues his important work to protect the biodiversity of Sri Lanka including special efforts to protect elephants.

As an explorer and a nature guide he has visited Waulpane Cave many times and his experience and knowledge will be an immense value addition to our guests.

Saranga

Saranga developed a love for nature at a very young age in his life. His earliest and fondest memories of his childhood revolve around wildlife. It was the various bird calls, which he eagerly listened to, that inspired him to write numerous poetic verses. His work as a wildlife guide fine-tuned his abilities and enhanced his knowledge on animals and their behaviour. With ten years experience in the wildlife sector, Saranga now contributes to Mahoora Tented Safari Camps & Eco Team (Pvt) Ltd. as a naturalist.
