AngammedillaA close encounter with wild elephants and 12th century relics – Angammedilla National Park

Experience a bespoke safari in the heart of the Dry Zone, and encounter herds of wild elephants along with 12th century King Parakramabahu’s stone weir, at Angammedilla National Park.

The Angamedilla National Park is a protected wildlife reserve located within the Minneriya - Girithale Sanctuary. It is also in the heart of Sri Lanka's Dry Zone (225 kilometres from Colombo).

Its main feature is the Angammedilla Gal Amuna (stone weir) which creates one of the main feeds to the Parakrama Samudraya, a mammoth reservoir credited to king Parakramabahu of 12th century Sri Lanka.

Angammedilla also secures the drainage basins of Minneriya and Girithale irrigation tanks, water sources in Sudu Kanda (Sinhala for "White Hill") and habitats and wildlife of the adjacent forests.
