Itinerary

Your tour begins at the Sri Lanka Day Tours Head Office in Colombo, where you will meet your assisting crew and set off on an unforgettable journey across one of the most exciting locations on the world map. First, delve into the city’s outskirts and survey the lives of the semi-urban residents.

You will then cycle past the Diyawanna Oya (lake) which surrounds the parliament complex. This area serves as an important habitat for lowland birds which makes it a popular hotspot for bird-watching enthusiasts. You can also visit a local Buddhist temple where you will observe the sacred rituals of the devotees.

Next, you will head to the Talangama wetlands, located just a few kilometres away from Colombo city. These aquatic wetlands serve as a crucial refuge for over a hundred species of birds, butterflies, dragonflies and a few mammals. Exotic species such as watercocks, eagles, bee-eaters, waders, the endemic Purple-faced Leaf Monkeys and a few monitor lizards can be found in these parts which will add to the excitement of the final phase of your journey.

Stop for a little snack before you head back. On our way back we will make several stop overs, mostly with the locals.

Our two wheel adventure in the countryside was mesmerizing. We passed by small villages, where we saw children playing and locals going about their daily routines. It was a great way to immerse in the culture and get a glimpse of the real Colombo. One of the highlights of our cycling trip was visiting the local markets. We were able to stop and explore them at our own pace, without worrying about parking or traffic. We even stopped to try some delicious street food, which we would have otherwise missed out on if we were in a car.

We were excited to explore the city's suburbs on two wheels. I must say, we were not disappointed at all. Cycling in Colombo's suburbs was a truly unique and unforgettable experience. As we cycled through the suburbs, we were surrounded by lush greenery and beautiful landscapes. The roads were well-maintained, making the ride smooth and enjoyable. We were able to take in the sights and sounds of the city at a leisurely pace, something that would have been impossible in a car
