Starting at 6:30 a.m. in the morning, gives us a good start before the heat of the day sets in, in this dry zone area. One of the earliest capital cities, in ancient Lanka, Anuradhapura has numerous monuments, relics and remnants to explore.
The route will take you through the Atamasthana or eighteen sacred places of the ancient city. Ride alongside some of the largest structures of their times such as the: Isurumuniya, Kuttam pokuna, Ranmasu uyana, Rathna prasadaya, Gedi ge, Ath Pokuna and many more other archeological excavation sites. Constructed over 2000 years ago, there is so much architectural and construction detail, to astound you by the knowledge of those times. Covering over 40sq kilometres, the kingdoms of this era created planned cities, complete with: royal palaces, temples, monasteries, gardens and even magnificent stone cut swimming pools.
