In keeping with the demand for an alternate, activity based day excursion closer to Colombo, we have come up with a full day excursion at our activity center in Bandaragama-Bolgoda. This center is within 1 hour from Colombo, and it’s equally closer to the Beach Resort area which could be reached in just 20 minutes.
Bolgoda Lake is the largest and most beautiful fresh water lake with the highest biodiversity in the island. It is full of mangroves giving rise to a rich diversity in aquatic fauna and flora. During the Dutch & British occupation periods this has been used as a bird hunting ground. The calm water of Bolgoda Lake is perfect for canoeing. The sighting of the occasional crocodile may add to the thrill of the ride! This flat water canoeing stretch is graded as a soft trail. There is room for 3 in the canoe [sit on top] and only 2 would be paddling at any given time.
The rest of the excursion is the biking trail to Rukgahathotupola which can be done following lunch. A ride through the rubber plantations would add colour to your ride. Get in to a human powered ferry and cross the river with your vehicle which will be another unique experience in this biking trail. Experience the Sri Lankan lifestyle through a trail set through villages.

The Canoeing Trip could start either from Bungalow itself or we can start the trip from the “Hirana” Ferry, where the clients will arrive and paddle to Bungalow from “Hirana” Ferry.
